Upper two thirds of the iliac fossa, the anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS) and the sacral ala

Actions - Hip adduction, Medial Hip Rotation, also assists to flex the hip

the soleal line of the tibia and the head and proximal third of the fibula

insertion - Tarsals spec. the calcaneus
posterior surface of the calcaneus via the calcaneal (achilles) tendon


Actions - Ankle Plantarflexion ( assists the gastrocnemius)

Anterior Tibialis

Origin- Tibia


the lateral tibial condyle, the proximal 2/3 of the anterior tibia and the proximal two thirds of the interosseous membrane.

Insertion- Metatarsals


Medial foot, the 1st cuneiform and the 1st metatarsal

Actions - Ankle dorsiflexion
