Interphase

Dna is replicated. Organelles are synthesised. Chromosomes aren’t visible.

Prophase

Chromosomes coil and become visible as centromere joins 2 chromatids. Spindles form. Nuclear envelope breaks down.

Metaphase

Chromosomes line up at equator. Nuclear membrane disappears. Centromeres attach to spindles.

Anaphase

Centromeres divide, separating chromatids from one another. Spindles contract, pulling chromatids to opposite poles.

Telophase

Chromatids reach opposite poles. Chromatids uncoil and become chromosomes. Nuclear envelope reforms.

Cytokinesis

Cytoplasm divides
