Mitosis |
Is where normal cells are divided and new ones are made |
How it works |
Interphase Everything in the cell is being copied and doubled up which are Non -dividing states with 3 sub units. |
Meiosis generation of gametes |
23 pairs (doubled) A single germ cell divideds Into 4 unique daughter cells. The daughter cells have half the # chromosomes as the parent cell so they would be considered haploids. |
Phrophase |
The chromosomes condense the spindle fibres form which are specialised microtubules radiating out from the centrioles. The chromosomes are then captured by the spindle fibres. |
Mataphase |
The chromosomes align across the equator of the cell with one kinatochore facing each pole. |
Anaphase |
The sister chromatides separate the spindle fibres then attach to the kinatochore they shorten and pull the chromatides towards the opposite poles. |
Telophase |
The spindle fibres disintegrate the nuclear envelope from around both groups of chromosomes the chromosomes then revert to their extended state. |
Cytokeniesis |
Occurs the whole new cell is split into two and contain the full numbers of chromosomes. |
