States of matter:

Solid, liquid, gas, plasma

Solid

Tightly packed particles in a regular pattern that vibrate.

Liquid

Particles are close together, no regular arrangement, they vibrate, move about, and slide past each other.

Gases

Well separated, no regular arrangement, vibrate and move freely at high speeds

Plasma

Has no definite volume or shape and is composed of electrical charged particles.

What is a mineral?

A mineral must be naturally occurring, inorganic, solid, posses a definite crystalline structure. Minerals are made up of atoms in a repeating pattern and often form crystals.

Pearls, coral, coal and amber
