Active Cell
The cell in which you type the data.
Active Worksheet
The worksheet that is displayed in the work area.
Adjacent Range
All cells touch each other and form a rectangle.
Cell
The intersection of a row and a column.
Cell Reference
The cells column letter and row number. For example, if the cell is in column C and row 4, it is cell C4.
Column
Appear vertically and are identified by letters.
Formula
An equation that calculates a new value from vales currently in a worksheet, such as adding the numbers in cells A1 and A2.
Formula Bar
Located next to the Name Box, this displays the formula used when a value is calculated.
Landscape Orientation
Page is turned on its side (longways).
Microsoft Excel 2010 (Excel)

Name Box
Cell Reference Area, located below the ribbon.
Nonadjecent Range
Two or more adjecent ranges and selected cells.
Portrait Orientation
When the page is viewed standing upright.
Range
A group of selected cells.
Range Reference
The selected cell in the upper-left corner and the selected cell in the lower-right corner. Seperated by a colon. For example, if A3 through C5 were selected, it would read A3:C5.
Row
Appear horizontally and are identified by numbers.
Sheet Tab
The names of the worksheets appear in the Sheet Tab at the bottom of the Worksheet Window.
Spreadsheet
A grid of rows and columns in which you enter text, numbers, and the results of calculations.
Workbook
The file used to store worksheets.
Worksheet
A computerized spreadsheet.
