Enables you to create VMs using a virtual switch. VMs can be used for apps and different OSs. The physical machine a Hyper-V(VMM) /VM runs on can be called the host.

Types of hyper-v switches

External: virtual switch binded to the physical net adapter. Enables VMs to physical network

Internal: virtual switch used by only the VMs running on the physical computer/ and between the VMs and physical computer.

Private: VM used only by the VMs running on the computer.

Creating + managing check points

Checkpoint is a captured image of the state/data / and hardware config of a VM at a particular moment in time

*Known good state*
