When should crew deny boarding?

If PAX is or appears to be...



- disruptive


- unruly


- impaired by alcohol / drugs



...to the extent that they may present a hazard to aircraft or ppl on aircraft

Who can deny boarding to a passenger ?

Any crew member. CSA. Captain.



Everyone is required to support that decision - no one can override a previous decision to deny boarding.

What needs to be done when a determination has been made to deny boarding ?

- let Captain know


- submit IHR

When dealing with disruptive / unruly PAX in flight, can Pilots come and assist ?

No. Pilots are not permitted to leave flight deck to deal with unruly/disruptive passenger.

When do we use TEAM?

If crew or PAX is physically assaulted.

What is the TEAM procedure ?

1. Whoever is assaulted or witnesses PAX being assaulted:


- yell TEAM!


- get away from assailant



2. One FA call Captain (222):


"We have an unruly and are using Restraint Kit"



3. FA nearest mid-cabin obtain Restraint Kit and direct ABPs with commands



4. All FAs you exercise crowd control and monitor progress

When we use restraints, cannot we fasten someone to any part of aircraft?

No

Where should we relocate an unruly?

Avoid FWD cabin or near OWE.



Preferred placement is last row surrounded with ABP.

When can we remove restraints?

- in a planned emergency landing, any restraints removed when FAs take jumpseat, with sufficient ABPs



- if they is cutting off individuals circulation - another device must be applied prior to removing the device. This decision must be made in coordination with instructions from captain.

What is a clear zone?

Area in front of flight deck


- includes lavatory



No PAX allowed in this area unless assisting crew Cabin Crew with prevention of flight deck intrusion.

When is a Clear Zone in effect ?

When inflight disturbance is level 2 or higher.

What level of disruption should a Notice from the Captain be issued?

Level 1 and Level 2



Not used for Level 3 or 4 due to nature and severity.
