Democrituis

Democrituis said that all atoms are indivisible. Like a marble.

He was the first one to come up with atom theory. Though he didnt have any evidence to prove it.

Antoine Lavoisier

He was know as the "father of chemistry" and came up with the law of conservation of mass. Matter can not be created or destroyed, only rearranged.

"Father of chemistry"

John Dalton

He added on to the theories and improved them. He said that all atoms are indivisible and atoms of the same element are identical. Atoms of different elements form compounds in whole number ratios.

Part of his theory is now proved to be wrong.

Ben Franklin

He studied electricity and was the first one to ever discover neagtive and positive charges.

Studied electercity.

JJ Thomson

Used the cathode ray tube to discover the electrons. The beam was attracted to the positive plate and repelled by the negative plate. Proved that the beam was negative charged. He called these particles electrons.

Cathode ray

How wete protons created? Who?

Eugen Goldstien used a modified cathode ray tube with holes in the tube an d a found a beam that web the oppiste to the csthode ray tube. Since it was attracted to the negative cathode, he concluded the beam was made of particles with positive charge. These particles are called PROTONS!

Goldstein

Who created the plum pudding model. And how does it look like?

Who was Ernest Rutherford?

He discovery the nucleus by doing the gold foil experiment. He shot the thr alpha particles at the gold foil, which were positive, to go straight through but suprisngly some were shot right back or deflected and some were able to go through. He found out that the protons were gathered on the dense center of the atom called the Nuclues.

How were the neutrons discovered?

James Chadwick discovered the neutrons be made he knew in the necules the positive charges would repel but they dont. So the neutrons which dont have any charge hold the postive charges together. Acting as glue.
