or power is a number that indicates how many times another number (base) is used as a factor


Order of Operations Rule

1. First perform any operation in brackets or parenthesis.
2. Raise any number to it's power. 3. Perform all mutiplication and division. 4. do all addition and subtraction from left to right. 

Average or Mean

sum of those numbers divided by however many numbers are in the set.


Rounding a Whole number

1.look to the digit to the right of the digit you are rounding
2. replace all didigts to the right with (0) 

Associative Property

when adding three numbers, regrouping addends gives the same sum...
(5 +4) + 1 =5 + (4+1) 

Communitive Property

changing the order of two numbers does not affect their sum ... 7+8=8+7

number beiung subtracted

Subtrahend

the number being subtracted

Difference

The answer is the difference
10  6 = 4 4 is the difference 

Factor

in multiplication the numbers being muliplied
4 x 5 = 20 4 and 5 are factors 

Product

the result of what is being muliplied is a factor
4 x 5 = 2020 is the factor 

Prime Number

a whole number that has exactly two different factors, itself and one


Decimal Places

ones, tenths,hundredthds, thousandths, tenthousandths, hundredthousandths


Change a decimal to a fraction

1. copy number drop decimal point
2. place fractional part as the numerator 3.denominator is 1 followed by 0's for its place .75 = 75\100

a letter that represents an unknown number

a known number
