Receiver Assembly
The receiver assembly serves as the support for all major components and controls the action of the pistol through major component functions. The major components are:
-The Trigger Guard Protects the trigger
-The Magazine Well is the Magazine insertion area.
-The Pistol Grip provides handhold.
-The Trigger initiates the firing sequence.
- The Hammer is cocked by double-action trigger squeeze or by rearward movement of the slide.
-The Disassembly Button is located on the right side of the receiver. It allows rotation of the disassembly lever.
-The Magazine Catch is reversible for left- or right-handed shooters. It retains/releases the magazine.
-The Slide Stop locks the slide rearward (open). It operates manually or automatically by the follower when magazine is empty.
-The Disassembly Lever rotates down, unlocking the slide from the receiver for disassembly.
-The Ejector is Fixed. It ejects empty shell casings from ejection port.
Slide and Barrel Assembly
The Slide and Barrel Assembly houses the firing pin and extractor and cocks the hammer during the recoil cycle. The barrel houses the cartridge for firing and directs the projectile.
-The Slide is serrated for manual retraction. It cocks the hammer during the rearward movement.
-The Firing Pin Assembly is made up of the striker and the firing pin.
-The Extractor:
1.Hooks over cartridge case extraction groove.
2.Pulls round rearward.
3.Gives indication of round in chamber.
4.Red top edge.
5.Protrudes on right side of slide and can be felt.
- The Decocking Safety Lever works as follows:
1. Up position (red for shows) FIRE.
2. Down position DECOCK/SAFE.
3. Moving to DECOCK/SAFE drops hammer without discharging weapon.
4. Rotates Firing Pin Striker from any contact with hammer and out of path of Firing Pin.
-The Fixed Sights come in two different types. The front is a blade type, the rear is a notched bar dovetail type.
-The Firing Pin Block sits the firing pin both to prevent forward movement of the firing pin. It prevents the firing pin from moving forward until the trigger is squeezed.
-The Barrel ( rear of barrel is chamber/loading ramp) assembly houses the round for firing, directs the projectile, an locks the barrel in position during firing.
-The Recoil Spring absorbs recoil. It returns the slide forward.
-The Recoil Spring Guide keeps the recoil spring straight and properly positioned.
-The Locking Block locks the barrel in position during firing.
-The Locking Block Plunger releases the barrel assembly from the slide assembly.
Magazine Assembly
The Magazine Assembly holds 15 cartridges in place for feeding and clambering of ammunition. As the last round is fired, the Magazine Spring exerts upward pressure on the Magazine Follower. This process exerts upward pressure on the Slide Stop and locks the Slide in the rear position, indicating that the magazine is empty.
