What's a monograph?
Any single printed item that's not part of a series, such as a picture book.

What's the definition of an e-book?
A book that's in an electronic format.
What's a book jacket or dust jacket?
A protective covering, usually colorful, that's over a hardcover book.
What's trade binding?
A durable type of binding given books sold through traditional places, such as a book store.
What's library binding?
A more durable binding, usually sewn in place, given to books intended for heavy usage in a library.
What's spiral binding?
Coil binding, such as is found on cookbooks or music books, so they will stay in place when opened.
What's adhesive binding?
The glue binding that holds paperback books together.
What's permabound binding?
A process of fusing heavy plastic material to a paperback book to make it more durable--the spine is often sewn in place as well.

A folded printed sheet of book pages. The sheet is folded, then cut to make pages.

Sheet folded twice to make 4 leaves or 8 pages.

Sheet folded three times to make 8 leaves, or 16 pages.

The Octavo.

At the same height on all books (bottom is preferable as all books will "line up" then on the shelf).
