Elasticity

The ability of a body to resist stress, and to return to its original shape when the stress is removed. An example of an elastic material is rubber

Inelasticity

A material in which deformation is not proportional to applied force, and deformation is not recoverable. Examples include wood and steel.

Hooke's Law

This law states that within the elastic limit, stress is proportional to strain.

Stress

Stress can be defined as the force applied to a certain cross-sectional area of an object.

Strain

Strain is the deformation of a solid due to stress

Young's Modulus

Also referred to as the modulus of elasticity, Young's modulus is the ratio of stress to strain, or the measure of resistance to elastic deformation
