Phagocytosis

Phagocyte engulfs a pathogen and hydrolysises it using lysozymes. They remove them through exocytosis. They retain the antigens and present them on there cell membrane to stimulate the cell mediated response.

T lymphocytes

A specific t helper cell brings to the foreign antigens on the phagocytes plasma membrane. This activates the division of t cells through mitosis.

Some go on to stimulate b cells, stimulate phagocytosis, activate cytotoxic t cells or become memory cells

B lymphocytes

They are stimulated by t helper cells through clonal selection. Plasma cells secrete antibodies specific to the antigen, helping to destroy it.

Some develop into memory cells
