Significance: Shows 5th element of romanesque art - throwback to antiquity. Augustus cameo on jeweled side also displays spoilia, but also represent pagan submission to Christian values. Remember holy roman emperor crown? Jewels/stones represent supernatural significance of the subject. Plain side faced the audience, jeweled side faced the clergy.
