Define what a gene is.

A gene is a heritable factor that consists of a length of DNA and influences a specific characteristic. (e.g. blue eyes)

What is a locus?

A locus is the specific position that a gene occupies on one type of chromosome.

What are alleles?

Alternative forms of the same gene. These differ from each other by one or a few bases only.
