China's One Child Policy

Little Emperors
Named for the boys in China who, as they are an only child, are spoilt and are overfed , meaning they become obese which has changed china's lifestyle and overall the country becoming obese
Female Infanticide
If parents find out they are about to have a girl as their only child, they abort it in hope for a boy as when a boy gets married, him and his wife live with his family to look after them in their retirement and old age. if parents did have a girl then they would have no one to look after them when the grow old which is why parents would hope for a boy and abort or give away their baby girl to an orphanage

Reason For The One Child

Policy

The one child policy was introduced as the birth rate was higher than the death rate meaning the country was highly overpopulated and predictions began to grow of a famine n the future, which never happened.
Kerala

The Population Control
Kerala are trying to encourage smaller families in order to decrease the birth rate which has been the most dramatic decrease in India.
Social Changes
Kerala's socialist/ communist government have focused on social changes yo encourage girls to have as good careers as men and have the choice to become things like doctors and teachers etc. This is helping women to be put off having children or large families as they would be more career focused.

United Kingdom

Reason For The Ageing

Population

The UK has an ageing population which is where we have a large population of people in old age as we have improved our healthcare and way of life. The life expectancy is rising which means more money is needed to be spent on aftercare for people in old age.

Problems With The Ageing

Population

Smaller working population and birth rate compared to the death rate creating an imbalance in the population.

Not enough money from taxes to pay pensions creating a pension crisis.

Less money is spent on education and businesses.

Old people have to sell their homes to pay for a care home
