Adolf Hitler
Hitler was the leader of the Nazi Party. He was the Fuhrer of Germany from 1934 to his death in 1945.

Hitler's Oratory Skills

Hitler's main strength was that he was a great speaker and could easily convert an audience to his beliefs and views.

Hitler's Leadership Skills

Hitler reorganised and streamlined the nazi party on his return in 1926. The party also relied on him because he was the voice of the Nazi Party.

Hitler's Propaganda

Hitler used film, newspapers and speeches/rallies in order to spread the Nazi message. The leader of propaganda for the Nazi Party was Gregor Strasser and then Joseph Goebbels.

Hitler's Supporters

Hitler wanted everyone to support the Nazi party and he made the party flexible so it could appeal to everyone's beliefs. Also, Hitler was able to gain the support of wealthy industrialists and landowners who supported and funded the party.

Munich Putsch

In November of 1923, Hitler attempted to overthrow the Government. This failed as he overestimated the support he would receive, he was trialled and put in prison put in prison.

Mein Kampf

A book Hitler wrote while in Prison, it helped to share his views and beliefs across Germany and spread the Nazi message.

Wall Street Crash and Great Depression

In 1929, Wall Street crashed and sent the US and many other countries into a state of Depression. Germany's loans from the Dawes plan were recalled and they couldn't pay back.

27th of February, 1933 - Reichstag burnt down by communist, van der Lubbe

Reichstag Fire Decree

Issued 28/21/1933 - gave Hitler more power, suspended certain articles in constitution and restricted freedom

Enabling Act

23/3/1933 - essentially abolished Reichstag, chancellor and ministers could bypass constitution, powers were to be used to secure state and root out troublemakers

Article 48

Emergency Powers - allowed Hitler to issue the Reichstag Fire Decree and as a result, the Enabling Act.
