SIT INS - Greensboro and Nashville |
Nashville: 1960 500 students began a sitin in a segregated restaurant, they were expelled from their school but let back in after the teachers threatened to leave. By may 1960 the town was desegragated. Greensboro: 1960 Similar to Greensboro, Woolworths had a segregated lunch counter. 4 blacks sat down and got abuse, 500 students joined them and it spread to other towns. BY end of 1960 segregated lunch counters were banned. |

Organised by members of the CORE in May 1961. Wanted desegregation after the Montgomery Bus Ruling. 200 arrested. Showed they couldnt be intimidated and showed support from Kennedy. |
