Gold Standard 1931

- Gave up the Gold Standard after previously returning to it after WW1 in 1925



- The Gold Standard made exports and British imports more expensive damaging trade globally



- Taking away the Gold Standard still did not help unemployed

Unemployment Act 1934

- Separated dole and insurance, 10% increase in dole back to previous support



Unemployment Assistance Board 1936

- Setup training and work schemes, helping people move to find work



Special Areas Act

- 1934 areas like Scotland and South Wales recognised special employment requirements



- Enough dole given out to stop any potential hunger
