Heparin MOA |
Anticoagulant. Potentiates the activity of antithrombin III (naturally occurring anticoagulant), which then causes inhibition of multiple coagulant factors. |

Heparin INDICATIONS |
STEMI in conjunction with fibrinolytic therapy. |

Heparin CONTRAS |
Known severe Ax. Age 75yrs and older. Increased risk of intracerebral haemorrhage. (In combination with fibrinolytic therapy). |

Heparin CAUTIONS |
Clinically significant bleeding. Increases bleeding. At risk of bleeding. Any cautions or contras present in checklist, seek clinical advice. Pregnancy. |

Heparin IN PREGNANCY |
Safety not demonstrated. Likely of STEMI in pregnancy is low, seek clinical advice. May be administered if breastfeeding, stop and contact LMC. |

Dilute to a total volume of 10ml using 0.9% NaCl. Administer IV over 1-2 minutes. |
