What does this map show?

This map shows the slave system in 1801-1860.Slave had to escape from one place to the other to escape and this map shows it. It also shows the extent of cotton growing 1801 to 1839 and extent of cotton growing 1840 to 1860. It shows slaves trading routs.

How did the size of the area where cotton was grown change between 1801 and 1860?

The size was big and full of cotton in every place in the South and North. Like, Texas, Georgia, California, and Mississippi. This all happened in 1801 to 1860.

Did the production of cotton increase or decrease between 1801 and 1860?

What effect do you think this had on the use of slavery?

I think it increased because more and more slaves had to work to get money and grew more cotton and worked harder. The slaves were getting paid a little more and some owners that were nice treated them well.

What invention accounts for the changes you see on this map?

The cotton increased and decreased at the same time in the north and south.

How might these changes effected slaves? Were these changes good or bad? Why do you think so?

They effected slaves because they were working so hard to grow cotton everywhere that it made their owners pay them a little more. But, the owners still didn't treat them well and made them work harder and not have freedoms. I think this is because they were black and the owners took advantages of them.
