System
Combination of interacting components with identifiable boundaries that form a unitary or complex whole
Boundary
Every system has a structural limitation that separates it from other systems. Defines it makes it unique
Closed system
Does not interact with the environment-rigid impermeable boundaries. Resistant to change.
Open system
Interacts with environment, permeable boundaries. Can receive and discharge energy (information) to its environment. Adaptable and receptive to change.
