A weak or worn oil buffer tube lock will…
…allow the buffer to shift during operation which may cause a decrease in rate of fire.
What does the oil buffer tube do?
The oil buffer tube absorbs the recoil of the weapon after each round is fired, and controls the rate of fire.
How do you set the rate of fire with the oil buffer?
Turn the buffer tube CCW until there are no clicks, then turn CW no more than 3 clicks past the O. This opens the oil buffer tube to the highest rate of fire. After 3 clicks, the rate will decrease with each click.
GAU 16
What happens if a cartridge fails to extract after firing?
