To apply for licensue you must what kind of degree?


  • Doctoral degree from APA program in applied psychology, an I/O program or international program that meets requirements.
  • Successful completion of APA or APPIC approved internship
  • 60 Grad hours min
  • 3 years in program (2 yrs in residence|1yr matriculated)
  • Internship had 2000:500 hrs
  • Completed post doc SWE with 1500:500
  • Completed application form
  • Paid fee
  • Completed the PLUS program from ASPPB

What exams must be passed for licensure and at what pass rate?

EPPP - "designed to measure knowledge of psychology relevant to practice." Passing score is set by ASPPB



GA Jurispurdence exam - on current laws, rules and regulations, and general provision for practice. Usual passing score is 70.



GA Oral exam - based on work example from last 6mts or last 6mts of practice. Exam by subcommittee of board.

What happens if you fail the EPPP 3 times? What happens after 6 fails?

Fail 3 time = You have to take 3 Grad credits or 15 CE before trying again.



Fail 6 times = You have to take 9 Grad credits or 45 CEs

If a canditate fails a sub-committee oral exam what happens next?

They will be given an exam by the full board.

What happens if you fail the second round of oral exams with the full board?

You will be denied licensure and will have to submit a new application to be reconsidered.

Who sets the time and place of the exams?

The Divison Director sets the time and location of exams.

What will the board do if the candidate is disabled?

They will make reasonable accommodations in accordance with the American Disabilities Act.

Within two months of completeing your SWE, and having passed the EPPP and GA jurisprudence exam, you request Provisional Licensure status by filling out the form and paying the fee, but the board denies your request. What do you do?

Request additional information within 60 days. After that the file is closed and you will have to submit a new application, pay another non-refundable fee, submit all required documentation.



If the board requests additional information to make its determination you have 30 days to respond or you start over again, as above.

You just received your provisional licensure, when the board finds that multiple and signficant complaints are coming in about your clinic. They see that your SWE is at this clinic. What might the board do?

They can revoke your license if they determine that your SWE is not being satisfactorily met, but you have the right to appeal this and appear before the board.

What constraints are placed on a provisional license?

They still have to have their work supervised in accordance with the requirements for post-doc SWE.

How would you know if the board approves or denies your application for licensure?

You will be notified in writing.

What fees are refundable and what are non-refundable?

The licensure application is non-refundable.



You can request refund of the exam fees if you do so in writing within a year.

How long does a provisional license last?
