Driver /fuel /area


Side of vehicle


Doors mirrors

- check that doors are not damaged and that they open and close properly from the outside.


- hinges should be well mounted not cracked, broken or damaged, no missing nuts or bolts with seals intact to prevent water leaks inside cab.


- check that mirrors and brackets are not damaged, mounted securely no loose bolts.

Fuel tank

- well mounted and secure on bracket, caps are tight and there are no leaks from tanks or lines


- check bracket well mounted to the frame


- check straps are tight and secure not chafed or frayed.

Cat walk / steps

- check that the steps leading to the cab and catwalk are solid, clear of objects and securely bolted to the frame

Lights and reflectors

- left turn signal, right turn signal, 4 way flashers and parking lights must be working properly not broken, cracked and clean Amber in color

Under vehicle


Drive shaft

- see that drive shaft is not bent or cracked


- coupling should be secure and free of foreign objects


- universal joints well greased, not cracked, no missing bolts, no shiny areas

Exhaust system

- check clamps secure,and no black spots around brackets ( to prevent fumes from entering cab)


- good distance between exhaust and fuel tank


- check for vibration, damage on pipe, if pipe is straight must have a cap on top


- check system for damage and signs of leaks, such as rust or carbon soot


- system should be connected tightly and mounted securely

Frame


- look for cracks, broken or welds, holes or other damage to the longitudinal frame members, and cross members

Tractor Back


Tires

The following items must be inspected on every tire


- tread depth, check for minimum tread depth 2/32


- tire condition, check that the tread is evenly worn and look for cuts or other damage to tread or sidewalls, also make sure vavle caps and stems are not missing or broken, damaged


- tire inflation check for proper inflation by using a tire gauge or mallet. Check tire pressure must be 95 to 100psi


- no mismatched tires ( size and construction)


- re grooved or recapped tires not falling apart

Rims

- check for damaged, bent, dents, or welded repairs.


- well mounted, secure and sealed to the tire

Lug nuts

- check that all lug nuts are present, free of crack's and distortion's and no shows signs of looseness such as rust trails or shiny threads


- make sure all bolt holes are not cracked or distorted

Axle Seals

- well mounted no missing bolts or nuts cracked or broken, axle Seals not leaking

Rear suspension


- frame - no cracks,not broken no welded repairs or loose


- hanger well mounted, secure, not cracked, broken or missing bolts


- torque arm well mounted, not bent cracked or broken


- steel and rubber bushing good condition


- leaf springs well mounted, not shifted , not bent, cracked, broken or welded repairs


- saddle plate U bolts, anchor plate, and bearing plate secure well mounted to the axle not loose


- shock absorber well mounted not bent , cracked broken no oil leaks


- air bellows well mounted to upper and lower support, not cut spliced, no air leaks


- back axle well mounted not cracked broken or welded repairs

Rear brakes


Brake hoses and lines

Look for cracked, worn or leaking hoses, lines and couplings


Brake chambers

- see that brake chambers are not leaking, cracked or dented and are mounted securely

Slack adjusters and Push rods

- look for broken, loose or missing parts. No missing cleaver pins


- for manual slack adjusters, the brake pushrod should not move more than 1 inch ( with the brakes released) when pulled by hand

Brake drum


- check for cracks, dents, holes. Also check for loose missing bolts


- check for contaminates, such as debris or oil / grease


- brake linings where visible should not be worn dangerously thin, no less than 1/4 inch thick, no oil or grease between shoe and drum.

Vehicle rear


Splash guards

Check that splash guards or mud flaps are not damaged and are mounted securely

Lights and reflectors

Check that all lights are working, not cracked, broken and cleans and all tail lights are red


- check tailights 4 functions, turn signal, parking, emergency, brake and white reverse light


- check plates must be clean and lights work


- reflector tape clean and not damaged
