What is the difference between speed and velocity? |
Speed is how fast you are going whereas velocity is how fast you are going in a specific direction (vector quantity). |
What is the formula linking speed, distance and time? |
speed = distance/time |
What is acceleration? |
How quickly velocity is changing (in speed or direction) |
What is the formula for acceleration? |
Acceleration = Change in velocity/ time taken |
What represents speed on a distance time graph? |
The gradient |
What are flat sections on a D-T graph? |
Where the vehicle is stationary. |
What do downwards lines mean on a D-T graph? |
The vehicle is moving backwards. |
How do you calculate speed from a D-T graph? |
Speed=gradient=vertical/horizontal |
What are the units for speed? |
m/s |
What represents acceleration on a V-T graph? |
The gradient. |
What do flat sections represent on a V-T graph? |
Constant speed |
How do you work out the distance travelled using a V-T graph? |
The area under the graph = distance travelled. |
What type of quantity are forces? |
Vector quantities. |
