Advertising
Three criteria must be met in order for promotion to classify as advertising:
1.) Must be paid for.
2.) By an identified sponsor
3.) and appear in the mass media.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE ADVERTISING!
*advertising by definition is paid for. likewise, there is no such thing as word of mouth advertising. Word of mouth is not mass media.
Publicity
is that which appears in mass media on behalf of a business/company/retailer, but is controlled by the media.
PUBLICITY IS NOT PAID FOR BY A SPONSOR!
*Generally, something much be considered newsworthy on behalf of an organization in order for it to appear in the media.
Glassware
1.) Glass-Comprised of sand and potash.
2.) Crystal is made by melting a mixture of silica (fine sand), lead oxide, potash and other ingredients to facilitate melting in tanks.

*The addition of lead oxide to the basic glass formula enables the glass to have a sparkle and shine that we typically associate with crystal, that would other wise not be obtainable without the lead oxide.

*Lead oxide also enables the glass to be able to cut into designs, that other wise would not be possible.

Glass with lead oxide added to it is called lead glass or lead crystal. GLASS MUST CONTAIN A MINIMUM OF 24% TO QUALIFY AS FULL LEAD GLASS OR FULL LEAD CRYSTAL.
Flatware
Sterling silver, by law, must be 925 parts pure silver and 75 parts alloy, usually copper, which provides strength and hardness, since pure silver is soft.
Silver plate
a base metal alloy, usually nickel, copper, and zinc, that is then plated with pure silver, which has been electroplated or coated to the alloy base. The Quality of silver plate, in part, is based on the amount of silver deposited on the base.
Stainless Steel
made of steel, which is a base metal alloy of iron, chromium and nickel. Since Iron rusts, chromium is added to the formula to keep the iron from rusting and reacting with certain foods.
Stainless steel must contain a minimum of 11.5 % chromium. Nickel enhances the finish and adds a shine or luster to the flatware. 18/8 and 18/10 refer to the higher ratios of chromium and nickel respectively in stainless stel that is indicative of higher quality.
Textiles
Refers to fiber, yarn or fabrics and anything made from it.
Fiber
Hair like filament.

natural- cotton and flax are the major vegtable fibers used in the production of apparel. and home fashions.
Wool and silk ( two most important fibers derived from animals). Hemp, ramie,jute, and linen.

Manufactured- Man Made Fibers come in two different catagories:
Generic- Spandex, rayon, polester.
Tradenames- Spandex- Lyrca.
