What is le Chatelier's principle?

When a system in dynamic equilibrium is subjected to an external change, the system readjusts itself to minimise the effect of the change and restore equilibrium.

What are the features of a dynamic equilibrium?

It's in a closed system.

The rates of forward and reverse reactions are equal.

Concentrations don't change

How do you work out equilibrium constant in this reaction: aA+bB↔️cC+dD?

[C]^c[D]^d/[A]^a[B]^b

What do different values of Kc represent?

=1 position of equilibrium is half way between reactants and products.

>1 towards products

<1 towards reactants.

Dichromate/ chromate reaction with concentration as an example

Temperature with cobalt chloride as example.

Effect of pressure on position of equilibrium with nitrogen oxides as an example.

Describe the Haber process- include temperature, pressure.

Exothermic reaction, so low temperature produces high yield. 450C typical.

Less molecules of gas on right, so high pressure produces highest yield. 200 ATM typical.
