What are enzymes?

A substance produced by a living organism that acts as a cataylst to bring about a specific biochemical reaction.

What are their roles in chemical reaction?

They break things (like peroxide) into water and oxygen.

Describe what happened in when hydrogen peroxide was added ti the liver.

Bubbling, Fizzing, and overflowing over the test tube

What gas was produced? How do you know?

Oxygen - it was the bubbles

What liquid was left behind?

Water

When hydrogen peroxide was added to the liver was that reaction endergonic (endothermic) or exergonic (exothermic)? Why?

Exergonic, because it reignites the flame

What factors could have influenced the rating of the chemical reaction between the liver and the hydrogen peroxide? Give two factors. Explain each.

1. If the old lover didn't have as many enzymes to break down the hydrogen peroxide there wouldn't be as big of an enzyme.

2. The amount of hydrogen peroxide placed in the test tube

Pineapple:

What was being tested?

The denaturing of proteins in fruit when put in gelatin.

Which jello sample is best set up? Why?

The control set up the best because it had no fruit (pineapple) to denature it's proteins.

Which sample did not? Why?

The sample with the fresh pineapple because the freshness of the fruit cause the proteins in the gelatin to denature.
