Antagonist: A character against the protagonist. Typically the 'villian'.

Who is the protagonist and antagonist in Macbeth?

The protagonist is Macbeth, as the story follows him. The antagonist can also be Macbeth as his ambitious, selflish behaviour, along with Supernatural influences and the weight of his fate, lead to his demise.

What drives Lady Macbeth to commit suicide?

She could not get rid of the guilt, murdering Duncan left her with. Metaphorically speaking, she could not get rid of the "blood on her hands".

Why was Duncan murdered?

Macbeth was influenced by Lady Macbeth to kill him. This is because Lady Macbeth desperately wanted to be queen... and if Macbeth would not murder him to follow his prophecy, he was not a proper man. They both let their desires get the better of them, and it lead to the death of Duncan.

What did the witches reveal about the character's futures?

That Macbeth would be promoted to the thane of Cawdor, and soon be king. The told Banquo that he would not be king, but his family would have a line of kings, beginning at his sons.

What was the prophesy that Macbeth thought was preventing him from being harmed?

The witches told Macbeth he could not be touched by any born through a natural birth, or harmed until trees 'walk'. Also, to beware of Macduff.

How did Macbeth die?

After bringing back Malcolm (duncan's son) to Scottland, there is a battle. Macduff beheads Macbeth, and then announces the rightful king is Malcolm.

What genre is the play?

A classic tragedy.

What leads Macbeth to his downfall?

He looses his mind, resulting in him being overly paranoid and aggressive. Power, ambition and being aware of his fate turned him from a hero to a tyrant.

How did Macbeth change throughout the play?

He started as a man who was heroic and applauded for his feats in war, but after murdering Duncan for his personal gain formed into some sort of power-hungry, paranoid monster.

Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Banquo (Macbeth's friend), Duncan (the previous king), Malcolm (Duncan's son) and the three weird sisters.
