Esophageal Tracheal Combitube (ETC)
A multilumen airway that consists of a single, dual lumen tube with 2 cuffs.
Multilumen airways
Advances airway devices, such as the ETC, and the pharyngeotracheal lumen airway, that have multiple tubes to aid in ventilation and will work whether placed in the trachea or the esophagus.
Contraindications of an ETC
Patients with a gag reflex; children younger than 16; adults shorter than 5'; patients who have ingested a caustic substance; patients who have a known esophageal disease.
