What is the main purpose of respiratory system?

To provide oxygen and to remove carbon dioxide from the red blood cells as they pass thru the lungs

What is the proper way to check for sign of adequate breathing?

By placing your face close to the patients nose and mouth and watching the patients chest this way you can listen and feel the patient breath while at the same time see if the patients chest rise and fall.

What is the breathing rate for a normal adult?

For a normal adult the normal breathing rate is 12 to 20 breath per min
