What are some considerations with renal disease? |
Modify treatment plan based on fluid and electrolyte status. Standard precautions should be followed at all times for protection. Recognize patient's abilities post-dialysis and potential for dehydration and hypotension. Monitor vital signs, don't put BP cuff over fistula (use opposite arm). Avoid mobilization activities as they're contraindicated during dialysis. Energy conservation techniques and pacing skills should be incorporated into therapy. |
