Mean as Measure of Central Location:

What is the symbol to denote the mean?
What is the formula to work out the mean?
What is deviation from the mean?

X-Bar, X with a dash on top.

Sum of all observations

Amount of observations

How far away from the mean are the given answers.

Frequency Tables:

Difference between discrete and non?
How would you work off each in table?

Discrete = Exact number.

Non = Can vary between lots of values.

Discrete you use the same, if non discrete then you would use the midpoint of the values.

Mean from Frequency Table:

What do you do to each value?
What is the column headers for the table?
How do you work out the sum of frequencies?
How to work out the end mean?

Separate into the amount of occurrences.

X, Frequency, Sum of Frequencies.

Add up the frequency row.

Calculate sub-values, add all up, then divide by sum of the frequencies.

How would you work out the median?

What else can the median be called?

How do you work out Q1 and Q3?

How do you the interquartile range?

Add 1 to the total number of values and divide by 2. If even this is the value, if ends in 0.5 then you half the value before and after.

The total numbers under and over Q2, add one divide by 2.

Q3 - Q1.
