Q-2R (Tape and pin inspection/ "long pulls") |
pull tape out, pull pin, clean, and inspect pin for cuts/abrasions, bends/dents, corrosion, or other damage. Re-coat pin a with aircraft grease, inserted properly through sewn-loop, and seated correctly, with stitches facing inboard. Pull tractor to check security of tape and pin for proper seating. |
R-2 |
Post arrestment inspection, inspect tape for wear spots, proper width, and any cuts/abrasions. |
(R-2) Any frays must be cut off and ____ applied to tape. |
Gaco |
Must be above ____ to apply Gaco or Grikote |
40°f |
R-3 |
CDP inspection. Inspect CDP for bird-caging, necking down, and broken wires. Inspect wire supports(donuts) for deep cuts/tears, maintaining proper height of CDP, flat spots, and cracks. |
(R-3) Apply ____ as needed to prevent degradation of CDP. |
Grikote |
Must keep a minimum of ___ wire supports(donuts) on CDP at all times, maximum of ___ |
8, 12 |
M-1R : Inspection and lubrication of arresting gear (Short Pulls). Ensure preliminary tasks accomplished prior to starting maintenance check. Preliminary include: greasing all zero fittings on sheaves, sprockets, clutch, ujoint, and rollers underneath drum; all fluid levels checked and hazmat added as necessary, including ATF in dual cam clutch and TSP, 80W-90 oil in speed reducer, 10W-30 oil in engine. Clutch must be engaged to check ATF level in TSP. |
Proper dyno readings of breaking strength (6000-6500 ft lb, 3 consecutive pulls) correct torque of locking screws (67 ft lb) QA will inspect readings and proper functions of rollers. |
A-1 |
Sheave inspection: clean sheaves of all grease, inspect for cuts/abrasions, and re-grease sheave. Inspect roller bearing for proper function. All o-rings and locking nuts must be replaced. |
S-1R |
Spark plug and limit switch inspection: replace spark plugs, ensuring proper torque to prevent breakage of plugs (22 ft lbs) and proper gapping of plugs (0.030 inches) apply water-displacing compound to limit switch, allowing to dry completely before reconnection. |
S-2R |
Antifreeze strainer and salinity test: ensure strainer is free of debris. Check for proper Antifreeze fluid level (10" + 1/2"). Test Antifreeze freezing point using refractometer (between -45°f to -65°f). Test proper pH level using litmus paper (7.0 pH) |
S-3R |
Oil change: Drain oil, replace oil filter and oil. Each engine takes average of 7 quarts of 10W-30. Add 6 quarts of oil, run for approximately 5 mins, then add additional oil as necessary. Oil filter must be lubricated and dated before installation. |
Components of the Engine |
CDP, tape connector(polyurethane), Tape, bidirectional sheave, deflector sheave, drum, large sprocket, chain, small sprocket, dual cam clutch, speed reducer( 10-1 Ratio), universal joint (U-joint), TSP (turbine stator pump), clutch housing, Clutch (40-45 ft lb)(crows foot), Drive Flange(2-3/8" Allen set screws), Engine |

Arrestment: if time allows check oil and start engines on both sides of runway prior to arrestment. Ensure clutch ___ engaged when starting engine. |
Is not |
Trip light may be ___ to prevent damage to limit switch and components. |
Disconnected |
When fire dept. notifies field support via radio for "full retract" all personal shall |
Walk both sides of tape iaw mrc Q-2R/R-2. Gather information from aircraft needed for trap sheet. Engage clutch on both sides to retract tape and CDP. Bring gear back to ready status and ensure trip light is plugged in. |
