Describe the AIRAC System

To facilitate the revision of FLIPs and other aeronautical documentation, the AIRAC system is applied within the UK. Whenever possible, routine changes to facilities, procedures and regulations requiring representation in FLIPs should be notified in advance and brought into effect on the specified AIRAC dates which occur every 28 days

When should X annotations be withdrawn or cancelled?

- 5 years from when the individual is no longer employed on the air system, equipment or work type that qualifies for the X annotation.



- When an individual is no longer competent to carry out the duties for which the annotation was awarded. Withdrawal may be approved only by the Commanding Officer or the Officer Commanding the appropriate Wing.



- When an individual re-musters to a trade outside his/her normal career pattern, except when he/she is qualified in all respects for the X annotation in his/her new trade and the annotation applies to that trade.



- On receipt of special instructions from Manning.



When withdrawal of an X annotation has been approved, HR admin is to amend the JPA PDB accordingly along with any unit documents. Obsolete X annotations are to remain on an individual's records.
