define chronic urticaria
|
recurrent symptoms of pruritic eruptions (urticaria) of more than 6 weeks' duration.

what causes chonic urticaria?

autoantibodies IGG (90-95%) or IGE (5-10%) resulting in cross-linking and mast cell degranulation

How is chronic urticaria treated?
|
a non-sedating H1 blocking antihistamine e.g. fexofenadine and removal of urticarial aggravators (eg, stress, alcohol, aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)

How long does chronic urticaria last?

Chronic urticaria typically lasts for 1 to 3 years prior to spontaneous resolution
