La Sylphide-choreographed 1832 by Filippo Taglioni-a nobleman falls in love with a sylph & tries to control her, bring her in his world to marry her. She dies. Onset of toe dancing

Choreographed for Broadway-1934 he opened 1st school associated w/Metropolitan Opera & 1948 School of American Ballet & NYC Ballet

structure of ballet must be tight-no storyline, shorter ballets. Few full length-Jewels, Don Quxote, Midsummer's Night Dream. Nutcracker. Liked dancers w/long legs (toothpick), nervous energy.
