Ignition Switches - Off


Mixtures - Idle cut off


Electrical Master Switch- Off

Engine Failure after Take-Off if the decision is not to continue with the takeoff:

Throttles - Closed


Rudder - Maintain Directional Control


Gear - Down


If time permits carry out shutdown checks (FIM)

Engine Failure after Take-Off if the decision is made to CONTINUE with takeoff:

Rudder - Maintain Directional Control


Airspeed - 90KIAS


Mixtures - Full Forward


Propellers - Full Forward


Throttles - Full Forward


Flaps - Up


Gear - Up


Inop Engine - Identify


Inop Engine - Verify by closing throttle


Prop (Inop engine) - Feather



Establish 2-3 degrees AoB towards the inop engine with approx half deflection on the slip indicator.



Trim - As required



When positive RoC has been established and time permits, complete the engine securing procedure.



Land ASAP.

Engine Failure in Flight

Rudder- Maintain Directional Control


Mixtures- Full Forward


Prop - Full Forward


Throttles - Full Forward


Flaps - Up


Gear - Up


Inop Engine - Identify


Inop Engine - Verify by closing throttle


Airspeed - Min 90KIAS



Engine Rough Running

Alternate Air - Open

RPM - High (Overspeed)

Throttle - Retard


Oil Pressure - Check


Prop Control - Low RPM


Airspeed - Reduce


Once RPM below redline


Throttle - As required

Engine Fire During Start

Starter - Keep Winding


Fuel Selectors - Off


Mixture - Idle cut-off


Fuel Pump - Off


Throttle - Open


Electrical Master Switch - Off


If other engine is still running:


Mixture - Idle Cut Off


Magnetos - Off


Evacuate Immediately

Electrical Fire Ground

Electrical Master Switch - Off


Throttles - Idle


Mixtures - Idle cut off


Ignition Switches - Off


Canopy - Open


Abandon Aircraft

Engine Fire in Flight

Cabin Heat & Defrost - Off


Throttle - Idle


Propeller - Feather


Mixture Control Lever- Idle Cut Off


Electrical Fire in Flight

Emergency Switch - On


Avionics Master switch - Off


Gear - Down

Reduce electrical load

Complete Electrical Failure

Circuit Breakers- Check


If electrical lower is still not available:


Emergency switch - On (IMC only)


Flood light - As required

Over voltage (If a voltage in the upper red sector (above 32volts) is indicated with both alternators set to ON):

LH Alternator - Off


If a voltage in the upper red is still indicated:


LH Alternator - On


RH Alternator - Off


If a voltage in the upper red is still indicated:


RH Alternator - Off

Trim Malfunction

Accomplish first two items simultaneously.


Aircraft control stick - Grasp firmly and regain aircraft control


AP Disc Switch - Press and hold for recovery


Trim - Retrim aircraft manually


AUTOPILOT Circuit Breaker - Pull
