Engine Failure during Take-Off |
During ground roll: Abort Takeoff Throttles - Idle (both) Rudder - Maintain Directional Control Brakes - As required If time permits and required due to insufficient runway: Fuel Selectors - Off Ignition Switches - Off Mixtures - Idle cut off Electrical Master Switch- Off |
Engine Failure after Take-Off if the decision is not to continue with the takeoff: |
Throttles - Closed Rudder - Maintain Directional Control Gear - Down If time permits carry out shutdown checks (FIM) |
Engine Failure after Take-Off if the decision is made to CONTINUE with takeoff: |
Rudder - Maintain Directional Control Airspeed - 90KIAS Mixtures - Full Forward Propellers - Full Forward Throttles - Full Forward Flaps - Up Gear - Up Inop Engine - Identify Inop Engine - Verify by closing throttle Prop (Inop engine) - Feather Establish 2-3 degrees AoB towards the inop engine with approx half deflection on the slip indicator. Trim - As required When positive RoC has been established and time permits, complete the engine securing procedure. Land ASAP. |
Engine Failure in Flight |
Rudder- Maintain Directional Control Mixtures- Full Forward Prop - Full Forward Throttles - Full Forward Flaps - Up Gear - Up Inop Engine - Identify Inop Engine - Verify by closing throttle Airspeed - Min 90KIAS |
Engine Rough Running |
Alternate Air - Open |
RPM - High (Overspeed) |
Throttle - Retard Oil Pressure - Check Prop Control - Low RPM Airspeed - Reduce Once RPM below redline Throttle - As required |
Engine Fire During Start |
Starter - Keep Winding Fuel Selectors - Off Mixture - Idle cut-off Fuel Pump - Off Throttle - Open Electrical Master Switch - Off If other engine is still running: Mixture - Idle Cut Off Magnetos - Off Evacuate Immediately |
Electrical Fire Ground |
Electrical Master Switch - Off Throttles - Idle Mixtures - Idle cut off Ignition Switches - Off Canopy - Open Abandon Aircraft |
Engine Fire in Flight |
Cabin Heat & Defrost - Off Throttle - Idle Propeller - Feather Mixture Control Lever- Idle Cut Off |
Electrical Fire in Flight |
Emergency Switch - On Avionics Master switch - Off Gear - Down Electrical Master Switch - Off Cabin Heat & Defrost - Off Reduce electrical load |
Emergency Decent |
Flaps - Up Landing Gear - Down Throttles - Idle Airspeed- As required |
Complete Electrical Failure |
Circuit Breakers- Check If electrical lower is still not available: Emergency switch - On (IMC only) Flood light - As required |
Over voltage (If a voltage in the upper red sector (above 32volts) is indicated with both alternators set to ON): |
LH Alternator - Off If a voltage in the upper red is still indicated: LH Alternator - On RH Alternator - Off If a voltage in the upper red is still indicated: RH Alternator - Off |
Trim Malfunction |
Accomplish first two items simultaneously. Aircraft control stick - Grasp firmly and regain aircraft control AP Disc Switch - Press and hold for recovery Trim - Retrim aircraft manually AUTOPILOT Circuit Breaker - Pull |
