How did Quirks of fate played a major role in two Romans expeditions on Britain?

The first expedition on Britain was 55 BC. The Roman army attack Britain and there was initial skirmishes which was at Roman's side, So the Romans overcame Britain. But the quirks of fate played a role, four days later the Roman's ships and 5000 cavalry and soldiers tried to cross the channel but the bad weather drove them back to France. There was a storm seriously damaged their ships and of course there was results like, the first skirmishes didn't have cavalry, they had to look for the food and they had to repair their ships first then go. One year later at 54 BC, the Romans came back again and they already invaded Britain. But the quirks of fate played a role again, mounting problems back in Gaul which made the Romans leave Britain again. But the Romans had their eyes on Britain.
