How does increasing pressure affect the position of equilibrium?
Moves the position of equilibrium towards the products
Increases rate of reaction however it I'd expensive and may be less safe
PROS:increased reaction rate
Increased ammonia yield
CONS:expensive + dangerous
How does increasing temperature affect the position of equilibrium?
Forward reaction is exothermic therefore an increase in temperature moves the position of equilibrium towards reactant
PRO:increased reaction rate
CON:decreased ammonia yield
Why is a high temperature used?
This is because the reaction would happen too slowly
