Definition
1-Allows sodium (Na+) to flow inside the membrane
2- the exchange of kind initiates an action potential in the neuron

Potassium ions rush out of the neuron after sodium ions rush in
The sodium-potassium pump restores the original configuration
Hyperpolarisation
When the inside membrane becomes more negative than the outside
