What is functionalism?is it qualitative
It is a perspective where functionalism look at each part of society in terms of contribution it make to make a efficient and harmonious functioning of the whole society structure or system.it beings a equality and balance to the society.
What are the criticism against functionalism?
🔸logical pbrolen is that functionalist claim,"everything exists because it exists,it's because it should". This is clearly going nowhere ,hence it's illogical.
🔸 Functionalism lacks to explain social changes.
🔸The concept of value consensus and harmony has many flaws because Jan behaviour can't be measured
🔸There is no comparison to DNA ,so society can't be compared to a living organism(it's a reference )
🔸 Functionalism does not give room for change ,this shows it's unncessary (even though society has been through changes).
How many views oppose functionalism?
Marxism:clearly speaks about evolution and change
Interprevists: Functionalism is study of what effect social structure have of societal life
🔸They explain everything at a macro level.
Interprevists have a small view,saying,they claim everyone has different interpretation of what the world looks like.they say social facts don't exist rathere theu are created.
Feminism:they want change,functy doesn't.
