Erythema
abnormal redness from dilation of dermal blood vessels during strenuous exercise, heat, anger, embarrassment
Cyanosis
blueness of the skin from insufficient oxygen in the blood because of airway obstructions, lung disease, or cold weather
Jaundice
yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes due to elevated levels of bilirubin in the blood because the liver is unable to dispose of the excess bilirubin
Pallor
pale skin due to reduced dermal blood flow because of low blood pressure, shock, anemia, or emotional stress
Albinism
genetic defect that results in a lack of the amino acid tyrosine, which blocks the synthesis of melanin and produces pale skin, white hair, and pink eyes
Hematoma
visible blood clot caused by trauma to the skin, which produces a bruise
