Define; Labour intensive industries
-capital intensive industries
Labour intensive industries have less mechanisation which means more workers and less machines.i.e car assembly plants
Capital intensive industries have have less workers,more machines and higher capital imput I.e oil refinery.
Explain why it would be beneficial for countries such as Botswana to create more labour intensive industries.
-it creates more employment which improves the standard of living.
-it results in less air pollution since less machines are used.
-leads to training/skill development increasing skilled labour
-diversifies the economy.

-They are usually ran by women,use of traditional skills,usually in rural areas,use of raw materials around the area,labour intensive as well as use of simple machines.

-competition from alternative products. Light industries use low raw materials,as well as hands or simple machines. Botswana has a lot of these for example Premier Clothing Industry. The factors that influenced its location include large flat land for expansion,Power from BPC,Water from Gaborone Dam,Cheap and free labour from surrounding areas.
Heavy industries involved in production of heavy and bulky goods and they use more raw materials. Their characteristics include ; production of more valuable goods, large scale production and more capital and labour is used.

The growth is in its infancy stage because of late discovery of minerals,lack of skilled labour,Botswana is a landlocked country,competition from its neighbours and lack of capital.
