Role/Fx: Coenzyme in Carbohydrate metabolism, (pyruvate-->AcetylCoA)

Deficiency: Accumulation of lactic acid and pyruvate. Beriberi
Toxicity: Rare, only in megadoses or excess IV

Role/Fx: =FAD, participates in Reduction/Oxidation reactions (ex. FAD-->FADH2 to ETC)
Absorption: Duodenum. Animal sources better bioavailability

Niacin
Role/Fx: =NAD, *most important electron carrier in all cells
Absorption:
Deficiency: Pellagra(dementia, diarrhea, dermatitis)

Other Factors: Can be synthesized by AA tryptophan, but requires riboflavin
Pantothenic Acid
Role/Fx: =CoA, fatty acid oxidation, fatty acid synthesis
Absorption: Jejunum
Deficiency: Very Rare, P.A. is in nearly all food
Other Factors: carrier protein, required for synthesis of neurotransmitter ACh
Folic Acid
Role/Fx: coenzyme in A.A.'s. Donates or accepts single carbon units, helps processing of byproducts(homocysteine)
Deficiency: Spina Bifida or Neural tube defects, megaloblastic anemia(unable to divide)
