Nerve - Axillary nerve C5+6
Supraspinatus
Action - Abducts arm and stabilises shoulder joint
Nerve - Suprascapular n. C5,6
Notes - Subacromial bursa lies above its tendon. Tendons form part of rotator cuff
Infraspinatus
Action - Laterally rotates arm & stabilises shoulder joint
Nerve - Suprascapular n. c5,6
Notes - Bursa under tendon over glenoid angle. Tendon forms part of rotator cuff
Teres Major
Action - Med rotates & adducts arm. Stabilises shoulder joint.
Nerve - Lower subscapular n. C5,6,7
Notes - Functionally part of subscapularis NOT ROTATOR CUFF
Subscapularis
Action - Med rotates arm & stabilises shoulder joint
Nerve - Upper and lower subscapular Ns (C5,6)
Notes - Subscapular bursa beneath tendon usually connected with joint. Tendon forms part of rotator cuff.
Teres Minor
Action - Lat rotates arm & stabilises shoulder joint
Nerve - Axillary C5,6
Notes - Functionally part of infrasp. Tendon forms part of rotator cuff.
