METAPHOR because it compares Ms. Hoffman to the food chain by using the word she's (SHE IS)
translation - she is the opposite of the other teacher
pg. 46 If you think we're slugs in the morning with Ms. Alvarez, you should see us by sixth period.
METAPHOR because it compares the way the students are in morning to who they are by sixth bell by using the word we're (WE ARE)
translation: they were lazy
