Type 3 hypersensitivity
• Mediated by immune complexes• Immune complexes are formed when antibodies bind to free/ soluble antigen (self or non-self)•The immune complexes deposit in blood vessels• cause vasculitis and vessel wall damage by activating complement system Both type 2 & type 3 hypersensitivity involve antibodies (IgM {IgG) that attack self antigen and non self antigen as well
In SLE, immune complex deposit in sites like
Kidney( causing glomerulonephritis)
Joints ( causing arthritis)
That's why it's called "SYSTEMIC"
