Ghost in the machine
•Ryle used the term ghost in the machine to describe descartes concept of the mind
- meaning we see just matter operated by some invisible mind.
Category error
Mistakenly treating something as being of one type when it is of a different sort.
Eg - category error to treat a rhinoceros as a type of butterfly.
•Descartes is guilty of category error because he assumes sentences about causes, sensations or events must either be mental or physical but not both.
